Dreams on Earth
In the heat of the daylight sun, I bask in everlasting life and love
Everything is perfect and hope roams free
There is no night in the light and its promise unreal
But the darkness always comes to take away
As light fades I try to make my own light, warding off what’s sure to arrive
Now the demons that roam free, filling me with desire and fear.
Shifting creatures of fear, passion, desire or anger, playing with my open mind.
But it is there, cold and lifeless.
Hopelessness and inability overcomes us and we fear it as we hang on.
Denying and fighting half of existence brings suffering.
But I must succumb and fall into it as it's been for eternity
Without darkness there cannot be light
Without the night there is no glory of the day
Here in this space we touch reality and connect with the universe
I accept it, to cleanse and ground. To clear away the fantasy of everlasting life.
We sleep, we wait, we dream. All our fears now roam free to teach us.
Finally, a glimmer of sunshine and we're again filled with hope
We wake to look east in anticipation of new love. New life. New growth.
It comes to fill us as it always has, and our fears now take to slumber.
The glory more glorious if we accept the darkness.
The eternal cycle of fear and hope, loneliness and love. Sadness and joy.
The raw experience of change gives us enlightenment.
We can always count on darkness following light, of hope following fear.
As we can always count of loneliness after love, of sadness after joy.
I take is as it comes, floating as the earth turns, accepting my fate as a ripple in the ocean.
No fear of fear and no fear of love. No love of love but the true love of love.
I cherish each day as I cherish each night.
Without both we are no complete and completeness is Enlightenment.
Enlightenment is Love. Love of all.
